What the number means

This is the spot price of gold (XAU/USD) — the global benchmark. Your broker's price sits a few units either side because of the spread. Use it to size a trade or check margin.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the live gold price on this page come from?

It comes from a market data feed for spot XAU/USD, refreshed as the feed updates, and is shown as a reference rather than an executable quote. It is there to give you context on where gold is trading, not to be used as the exact price your order will fill at.

Why is your gold price different from the quote in MT4 or MT5?

Broker platforms stream their own bid and ask from their liquidity providers, so the number you see includes their spread and can lag or lead a public feed by seconds. Our page shows one reference mid-price near 4275.0; your platform shows the two-sided price you can actually deal on.

Is the price shown here the bid or the ask?

It is a single reference price, not a dealing quote, so it sits between the bid and the ask your broker would show. When you buy you pay the ask and when you sell you receive the bid, and the gap between them is the spread, which is set by your broker and account type.

Can I place a trade directly from the live price on this site?

No. This desk is not a broker and cannot execute orders, so the live price is information only. You trade through your own broker account, and the fill you get depends on their platform, their spread and the liquidity at that moment, not on the figure published here.

Does the live price update when the gold market is closed?

It depends on the feed. Spot XAU/USD trades in sessions that run from Sunday evening to Friday evening, and outside those windows the price may hold its last value or update thinly. Treat any weekend figure as stale and check your broker's session times before acting on it.
